Reader’s Question:

Will I be charged a fee if I shift insurers for an Illinois vehicle insurance? Should I inform the company?

Lisa

Aurora IL

Usually, you will be charged a minimal amount for canceling your insurance before the due date. The exact amount will not be the same, it will depend upon the contract you’ve signed. The right thing to do when you shift insurers for an Illinois vehicle insurance is to tell your current provider out of courtesy, if not for anything else. No matter how bad its service to you in the past, it’s still best to maintain courtesy.

An Illinois vehicle insurance company need to be told in writing of your intent to move to another insurer so that it will not send a notice of cancellation to the Department of Motor Vehicles. The insurer has an obligation to file a notice of cancellation especially when the client has an sr22 form obligation. You don’t want to get in trouble with the DMV and this could be avoided by letting the Illinois vehicle insurance company know that you are already changing providers.

You could also decide to shift insurers for an Illinois vehicle insurance because of price difference. You should inform your insurance agent about it since they may be able to give you a similar offer. This will save you from a lot of hassles.

Reader’s Question:

I need all the help I can get to have cheaper car insurance here in Illinois for a young driver like me. It just seems so high for an 18-year old guy, so how can I make it lower?

Abram

Joliet, IL

There is a sad truth that young drivers are not known to be outstanding drivers when it comes to their safety records. Because of that, they are given higher car insurance quotes than other drivers in another age group. But that should not be a reason to worry too much since there are ways to have cheaper young driver car insurance.

First, you have to make sure that you give your best in your studies and perform well in school. You need to have an average of B or above so that you can be eligible for a good student discount. You can also qualify for another discount if you finish a course in defensive driving. Apart from being a more responsible driver, it can also lower your payment for your car insurance.

If you still live with your parents and use their car, you can just opt to be under their car insurance policy. You can save on your car insurance premiums this way rather than getting a separate policy altogether. Also, it will help you obtain car insurance quotes that are in your favour if you drive a less expensive and older vehicle. Likewise, you can also save on your car insurance if your car is equipped with safety features and security devices such as car alarms, air bags, anti-theft device, etc.

Return Of Premium Term Life Insurance

Reader’s Question:

I plan to get just term life insurance for my coverage here in Illinois and I heard about this return of premium term life insurance. What does this exactly mean and is this gonna be worth it?

Layne

Peoria, IL

Term life insurance is the most affordable life insurance plan available in the market since the insurance provider only offers coverage for a certain period of time. The only limitation of a life insurance policy is that once the term expires, you won’t get anything except if you convert it to a whole life insurance policy by means of the convertibility clause. For that reason, it is crucial to be certain that the term life insurance you wish to purchase in Illinois is convertible and renewable.

Return of premium term life insurance can make up for the weakness of term life insurance policy. For instance, you bought a return of premium term life insurance policy and you were at the age of 30 when you had it. Then it was a 30-year term for $30 a month or $360 for one year or $10,800 for the entire 30-year term. If you are still alive after 30 years, you can get a huge percentage of your premiums back or if you went to the right life insurance provider, you can take them all back with the return of premium term life insurance. This is a very good deal and nice way to begin your retirement, but you were also covered by the term life insurance for 30 years. So if you have already decided to get return of premium term life insurance, just be certain that you clarify with the life insurance company the amount that you can get back if you are still alive after the term.

Readers Question:

At what age should someone get life insurance coverage? Should I buy young or wait until I have kids?

Yvonne

Peoria, IL

Good question. It is recommended that you get life insurance coverage as soon as you have dependents, people who will suffer financial hardship upon your untimely demise. So this makes it impractical to get children life insurance, and it may already very expensive to get yourself covered by the time you hit your mid-forties.

Life insurance is not an investment, but a form of protection for your loved ones. So aside from taking care of funeral expenses, there really isnt much incentive to keep life insurance coverage if youre on your own. Here are a few more things to remember when purchasing an Illinois life insurance policy:

Buy The Right Kind Of Coverage

Knowing the kind of policy that fits your needs; whether it be just to cover you while raising your family or paying mortgage (Term Life Insurance), or prefer lifetime coverage to accumulate your wealth (Whole Life Coverage), is essential. Life insurance is a long-term commitment and you dont want to be throwing good money on the wrong thing.

The Right Amount Of Coverage

The amount of coverage you buy on your policy (a.k.a. the death benefits or face value) should meet, if not exceed the immediate financial needs of your dependents once you do leave them behind. Take into account their living expenses and any long term financial obligations left behind.

Shop Wisely

Save some time and get the most affordable life insurance policy by using online life insurance portals such as this website. You can get free and instant access to the latest rates and offers, helping you get the coverage that gives you the most for your money.

Live A Healthy Lifestyle

This is the best way to enjoy affordable life insurance rates for years to come. Reducing, if not eliminating the risks that could shorten your lifespan (obesity, smoking, extreme sports etc.) will do wonders and save you hundreds, even thousands of dollars a year.

Cheap Insurance For Young Driver In Illinois

Reader’s Question:

My friend told me that once I’ve reached the age of 18, any traffic violations I had in the past will be completely removed from my driving record. Is that correct? I’ll be turning 18 in two months time. If my violations will be removed then I guess I can take advantage of cheap insurance for young driver in Illinois. What do you think?

Tony

Springfield, IL

I’m sorry Tony but this is the first time I ever heard about that rule. I mean, I’m never aware of any laws here in Illinois that says your driving record will be a blank sheet once you’ve reached the age of 18 and that any traffic violations will be completely deleted.

According to the Illinois Driver’s Manual that I’ve read, the Secretary of State (SOS) maintains a record of its resident’s traffic accidents and violations. And since the state of Illinois is a member of the Driver License Compact (DLC), this give rights to other members states of DLC to forward your out-of-state moving violation to your home state Illinois. And Illinois will then treat that out-of-state violation as it happens here.

Basing on the driver’s manual that I’ve read, there’s no mention regarding your friend’s claim about your driving record starting from fresh once you’ve turned 18. But to make sure, you can check with the SOS.

And since you’re interested in getting cheap insurance for young driver in Illinois, you may want to consider shopping around online for free online car insurance rates. This is one great way of finding cheap insurance for young driver in Illinois.
