Reader’s Question:

My friend in Cicero, Illinois IL says that increasing your collision auto insurance doesn’t really provide any increased coverage, can I argue with him?

If there is a lienholder on your vehicle in Cicero, Illinois IL, you might be required by them to carry collision auto insurance as part of your overall comprehensive coverage. After all, lenders always want assurances that their investment is protected and it just happens that collision auto insurance offers those assurances.

For insurance purposes, auto collision is an accident between vehicles or an accident where the car hits an object and where the car is struck by an object and it is in these circumstances where your collision auto insurance pays you for the damages to your vehicle.

On the other hand, with liability coverage, there are limits of coverage that can be adjusted by the owner. A collision auto insurance typically pays an amount established by a claims adjuster. This amount does not exceed the value of the vehicle, which therefore makes your friend correct in this aspect. The maximum limit of your collision auto insurance never exceeds the value of the auto but what can rather change is the amount of your deductible. You establish that with your agent in Cicero, Illinois IL and your collision auto insurance provider. That’s usually defined on the declaration page of your auto policy which you can double check to verify.

Readers Question:

I am in trouble right now and I need someone to reach out. I would like to know the length of time the car insurance company usually takes to process a claim for my stolen vehicle in Rockford, Illinois.

Hayden

Rockford, IL

I can sense your worries, Hayden and that is understood. However, you should not worry too much because your insurance company will take care of everything.
But actually, it depends on the circumstances upon claims. If there’s anything suspicious, it will take couple of days or weeks for the processing alone.

Car insurance companies in Illinois differ on their policies too regarding theft of a vehicle. Let’s say there is no suspicious about your claims and the vehicle is no recovered. It will usually take two weeks, because it has to be verified that your car was really stolen and won’t be recovered anymore.

Other companies will process it for 30 days believing that your car will suddenly show up. If it’s been 30 days and still your claim is not yet granted, most likely, a thorough investigation is conducted. Make sure you support your claim with necessary documents and keep an open communication with your carrier. Sometimes, if the company is too generous, they will even provide you a rental car even you don’t carry rental coverage in your policy. That happens when your claim takes a long time to process. It depends upon the case, really.

Do your best to coordinate and cooperate with your insurance company to settle everything. Don’t lose your hope, Hayden and we’re just here for more queries.
